Bright & Early: Playing With Fire Edition
Good morning, Nashville. A Latino supermarket near Harding and I-24 caught on fire overnight for the second time in a month, destroying about 40% of the building. We’re happy to hear that no one was inside at the time and firefighters had it all under control in an hour. The fire is being treated as suspicious since it’s one of many fires that have happened in the heavily Hispanic area over the past few months.
- It ain’t over yet. The Most Dramatic School Rezoning Plan Ever was narrowly approved last night by a vote of just 5-4. The plan, which has been charged with promoting racism and segregation, probably won’t be put into place without a fight if the protesters at last night’s meeting were any indication.
- Youtube or it didn’t happen. The elusive MoveOn.org is supposedly holding a protest at the Exxon on 12th and Broadway at 5pm today. In the off-chance that they don’t stand us up this time, you can drag your “McCain <3′s big oil” signs down there and join them or just borrow one of theirs.
- Bits & pieces. Everyone in Tennessee suddenly wants a hybrid … Some groundskeeper at cemetery in Maryville is seeing faces in trees … Titans tickets go on sale Saturday … The ‘noog is closing their burn center and shipping all their patients to Nashville.
