Weeded: TBI Interrupts Your Pot Supply

Drug busts seem to be all the rage these days, but even we can’t wrap our minds around this one: The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation uncovered a huge marijuana operation in East Tennessee today when they spotted a campsite that housed somewhere around 357,500 baby marijuana plants near the North Carolina border in Cocke County. That’s more pot than the Governor’s Task Force confiscated in 2007 combined. The site was so big that it was actually spotted from the air by a helicopter pilot making sweeps for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

When law enforcement arrived on the scene, no one was guarding it and no arrests were made. Word on the street is that the plants would have pulled in around $700 million. Now we know what people do for fun in East Tennessee–or at least what they used to do.
