Free Stuff: Energy-Savers From The TVA

In honor of all the hoopla surrounding our favorite ex-VP neighbor and his popular electric bills, we at Nashvillest wanted to take the opportunity to let you know how you might be able to knock a few dollars off of your own bill next month.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has been doing this for a while, but an article in the Tennessean a few days ago reminded us we needed to pass it along. The TVA has a quick energy audit set up online, and once you answer a few questions about your home and energy usage, you’re eligible to receive a free energy-saving kit valued at around $40, plus some tips on how you can cut your bill down even further. We’ve heard the audit is pretty simple for most people, though we ran into some issues doing our own. We say it’s worth a try, and maybe you’ll wind up with a free light bulb or two.
